Aubrey Mable ’14: A career path with options
In an Advanced Television course, Aubrey Mable’s group semester project was to come up with a new television show and shoot a pilot episode. In the state-of-the-art television studio on campus, Mable directed the production, an experience that impressed company officials at Turner Broadcasting Systems in Atlanta, where she secured an outstanding summer internship. (Watch her YouTube video about being an intern at TBS here.)
"My internships provided me with a variety of skill sets and confidence in knowing I can adapt and learn quickly."
As a video production intern for Bryant, she traveled to China to assist with two video documentary projects. Mable participated in pre-production and production planning and collaborated with faculty and the production team.
“My internships provided me with a variety of skill sets and confidence in knowing I can adapt and learn quickly,” she says. “I’ve also built an impressive network of professionals across several fields.”
Mable took part in the Sophomore International Experience and studied in New Zealand for a semester. In between academics, internships, and co-curricular activities, she is captain of the varsity softball team. “I was recruited to play softball and had the opportunity to be a part of the transition" from Division 2 NCAA athletics to Division 1. "I knew coming in that I was going to be able to make a big impact on the program,” she says.
That impact is reflected in a number of awards and honors, including being among 30 NCAA Senior Class Award candidates nationwide. Nominees’ achievements must span four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition. The winner will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Women’s College World Series in the summer.
For Mable, life continues to be a whirlwind of activity and accomplishments. After pursuing several opportunities across the country, she has accepted an offer to work for Major League Baseball's Colorado Rockies.
“I love to do so many things, it’s made choosing my career path a challenge,” she says.
