Valerie Ann Carrigan
Valerie Carrigan joins us from Green Mountain College where she held the position of Associate Professor of Art before the college closed its doors in 2019. In her new role as Visiting Artist and Lecturer at Bryant University, Carrigan teaches courses in Drawing, Design and Studies of the Book. When not teaching, she works out of her studio in a historic mill building in western Massachusetts where she produces drawings, paintings, prints and artist books exploring the intersection of the natural world and the human spirit. Carrigan was the 2015 Book Artist in Residence at Maine Media Workshops + College in Rockport, Maine and recently completed an artist residency at In Cahoots in Petaluma, California. She is an awardee of the Assets for Artists Grant through Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) and an Individual Artist Grant through the Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire in Massachusetts. Her prints and artist books are held in such collections as the Smithsonian Libraries Artists' Book Collection, Smith College Book Arts Collection and Swarthmore College Special Collections among others.
