About This Department

Math is part of daily life, and it also is the foundation for a wide range of careers. Our curriculum promotes academic excellence with a rigorous course of study that emphasizes critical thinking, problem solving, statistical analysis skills, and strong business acumen. Through this program, students are prepared to be impactful communicators and thinkers—and in-demand leaders. 

Our faculty features some of the nation’s best analytical thinkers, many of whom are members of elite academic and professional organizations and who were at the top of their professions before joining the department. Our Applied Mathematics program is ranked No. 10 in the country by College Factual.

The department offers two majors, three concentrations, and two minors. It also supports the multidisciplinary applied analytics concentration, one of the very few in the nation offered at the undergraduate level, as well as the Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics.
